Road Trip Part II

So I was just talking with Daddy (he was doing most of the talking, as usual) and he said that this weekend we are going up to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Even better, just like last time they are throwing a giant party. No, not for me, but for my cousin Kelly who is getting married. First, I was worried because I thought I had nothing to wear (I've been told onsies don't count as formal wear). Luckily, Mommy was thinking ahead and bought me a super-cute pink dress. I am very excited, because not only do I get to see a lot of family, but Daddy says there is even more family to see that I don't even know yet. And he will dance with me. I'll give you the low-down when I get back.

Did I mention I can grab my toes now? It's awesome, since I don't need to wait for Daddy to play Monkeytoes (although it is more fun with an opponent).

In other news, I've got a new chair. This one doesn't vibrate like my other one, but it lets me sit up tall like a big girl. Its really awesome.

The cat really seems to like the box it came in, so that is good. See, when I get presents, everybody is happy... it is a win-win.

Little Girl Blue

Have you ever noticed how almost all little girl clothes are pink? I mean - don't get me wrong here - I like pink. I wear pink. I look GOOD in pink. But sometimes I just feel like it is a little forced on me.

The little boys at Daycare wear a lot of blue. Why can't I wear blue? Why don't they wear pink? Why does EVERYBODY get to wear yellow?

I'm a strong, independent baby who can grow up to be anything she wants (Mommy said so). Why should I be forced to wear one color because the "Man" says so?

Over the weekend, Mommy and Grandma Sara opened up this box that was in my closet and found a bunch of new clothes that were a little bigger than the stuff I have now. (that is good, because the stuff I have now was getting so tight you could see the onesie lines)

And in there was something that caught my eye...

I'm taking the color Blue back for the girls, baby.

Mail Call

Wow, you guys must like me. I've gotten more mail than ever before, which is good because I am kinda sad. Daddy is gone this week with the Hawkeyes and I miss him. Mommy said he had to go to Michigan with them. Why couldn't they just play here like they usually do?

But I digress...

Since Daddy isn't here to give me any ideas, I will answer some of your questions you sent me.

Claire,

When are you moving? Are you all packed? Are you coming to Chicago any time soon?

Sincerely,

Matt (Chicago, IL)

Hi Matt. Thanks for the email. I move all the time. I like to move my feet and my arms and my head. I have this thing called a mat (whoa... did you invent it?) that has things that go above me and other things that dangle down. I move my feet to kick the music lion on it, and I can reach up and grab the frog.

As for Chicago, Auntie Megan lives there, but she comes and sees me, so I don't have to go there.

Claire-

Do you think your mommy and daddy would let you take the car to the Qwest Center in September? That way you could wear your Penn State t-shirt in public for the women's volleyball match!

Jen (State College, PA)

Hi Jen! Daddy told me it was you that sent me the Penn State shirt. And while that was nice, I like to wear Hawkeye shirts. I think they are prettier. As for the game, I am too young to drive, but I think I can get Daddy to take me. I've noticed that when I cry, Daddy tends to get me stuff I want. I wonder if that will continue?

But I don't know if I can wear the shirt...

Me-Mail

Daddy gave me a present the other day. He got me my very own EMAIL ADDRESS!!!

How awesome is that?!?! Now I can keep in touch with my grandparents, maybe email Mommy at work, and keep up with my friend Emma when we move to Omaha.

Another thing I was thinking about was letting you all - my loyal readers - ask me questions. If you send them in, I will try and answer them the best I can. Whatever you want to know about me, or what I think about things, just let me know.

Write me at claire.wirt(at)gmail.com

(Daddy says that you should use the @ symbol instead of (at) - he said if you write it the normal way on the internet, you get lots of SPAM. I don't want any of that, since I am not on solid foods yet.)

House Hunting

This last weekend was a trip - both literally and figuratively.

Daddy picked me up at Daycare Friday with a bag packed for me. He said we were picking up Mommy and going to look for a house in Omaha. Now, I don't know where Omaha is, nor why we need another house when the one we have is nice, but I didn't argue. Daddy explained that Mommy was getting a new job and we were going to move.

That's fine, but why get a job so far away? Money? However much Mommy is going to get paid can't be enough to pay for the gas it is going to take to bring me back to Daycare every day. It's like a four-hour drive!! Oh well, not my problem.

So we spent all day Saturday looking at different places. Some were nice, some were not, and one had a pink room for me (unfortunately, we didn't get that one).

The one we did get, however, is very nice and I get a room with a walk-in closet all to myself. That doesn't do me much good since I can't walk, but whatever. Maybe it can be a crawl-in closet for a while.

One thing Daddy was excited about was that the place has a pool where we can go swimming. I have never been swimming before, but Daddy says it is like taking a bath without soap. Sounds good to me.

School Pictures

OK, my legs are feeling better now after the shots. I must admit, I was a little cranky the other day.

But anyway, I just wanted to show you all my very first school picture. This guy came a couple weeks ago and took all of our pictures at Daycare, then they let our Mommies and Daddies see them so they have to buy them. I mean, it's not like they have enough pictures of me, right?

We don't have the copies back yet, but this is a preview.

Busy Weekend

I tell you what, this baby is tired. I had a very busy weekend and met LOTS of new people.

First off, Daddy came and got me early from Daycare on Friday. We weren't home more than a few minutes when Daddy's friends Lee and Kelly showed up. Apparently Daddy has been friends with Lee since he was my age. Anyway, they were really nice and fun to hang out with - but I was a little confused. Sometimes Daddy called him Lee, but sometimes he called him Lou. I mean, which is it? Pick a name and go with it dude. It's not like I go by Claire and Clarice. It's just Claire (well, sometimes Claire Bear... and Peaches... and Pumpkin... and C.B.... and Sweetie... OK, I'll let it slide - sorry Lou).

Anyway, Lee said I was supposed to give a shout out to Szafranski, but Daddy told me that he should earn his way into the blog, not just treat me like some kind of D.J. taking requests. Besides, Daddy said he had a little boy my age. Why doesn't HE just get a blog?

But I digress... Daddy and his friends had to leave, but my friend Andrea came over to keep me company until Mommy got home. After about an hour, I had another visitor. Mommy's friend Amy stopped by on her way through town, and she brought PRESENTS!!! I now am the proud owner of the cutest purple dress with whales on it ever.

Then on Saturday night, Mommy and Daddy had some friends over to watch a sport called boxing. I had never seen it before, but it was pretty cool. It's just like baseball, except instead of a bunch of guys playing baseball it is just two guys hitting each other. I was fascinated. Maybe one day I'll have a little brother or sister to play boxing with. I'm going to start training so I make sure I always win... losing that sport doesn't look fun. But watching it sure is!! It involves everything I love, watching people and drinking a bottle. Daddy and his friends must have been really hungry, because they drank a lot of bottles. They don't have bottles like me, though. Theirs are all brown instead of clear, and they hold 16 oz. That is a lot of formula!!

Unfortunately, I was so tired it didn't make it to the main event.

I also got to meet Lee's Mommy and Daddy and brother and little niece Allie, and Kelly's Mommy and Sister and Cousin and little niece Natalie. I had more visitors this weekend than ever before.

I would type more, but my legs are super-duper sore today. Yup, more shots at the doctor. Getting three needles stuck in your legs is no more fun the second time around.

But, just like the boxers, I got weighed in...

Girl Power

So there have been some major developments at Daycare. Jack graduated to the Yellow Room, leaving a spot to fill in our room. The new kid (Jamie) came yesterday, and guess what...

SHE'S A GIRL!!!

For those of you scoring at home (and for those of you alone) that brings the total to FOUR girls and TWO boys. We've got the majority!!! I am so excited I could hardly stand it. I mean, don't get me wrong, me and Emma and Avery weren't exactly getting pushed around. We did our floor time together, we talked, we looked at each other. It was pretty good. But think of all the things we can get done with a majority. I tell you what, I won't be shaking a second-choice rattle, that's for sure. To think about what Emma and I had to go through when I first arrived. Just three short months later, we've flipped it from 4 boys and 2 girls to 4 girls and 2 boys. Shows you what you can accomplish when you set your goals high.

Best yet, this kid is no longer the youngest in the room!! I was there before Avery, but she came in older than me (maybe she was held back, I don't know).
