Come On Down!!

So, Daddy and I have been doing a lot together this week. It has been awesome.

One of my favorite things has been watching this new show called The Price is Right. It must be brand new, because Mommy and I never watched it in the six weeks we were hanging out together.

Anyway, in case you haven't seen it, this old dude invites people up on stage with him and a bunch of young girls (for some reason I get hungry whenever I see the girls... wonder why?) to guess the price of groceries. If they get it right they get cars or boats or dinette sets. Here is a link to an article I found on the web...

It's really fun to play along. I'm not very good, since I have no concept of money and have never been shopping, but Daddy is really good at it.

Like today, they were playing this pricing game for $10,000 (that's a LOT of diapers) and one of the things the guy had to price was baby formula. I was all, "Free!! Free!! Free!!", because I had seen Daddy get it for free from the kitchen about 4 times a day this week. But then I remembered that Daddy told me they use California prices and they are always higher, and sure enough, it wasn't free.

I've got a lot to learn.

The Adventure Continues

OK, so Day One at home with Daddy was awesome, and Day Two was even better. To start off, I felt kinda bad that Mommy had to miss all the fun yesterday, so I wanted to figure out a way to keep her from leaving this morning. Then it hit me - projectile vomiting. After my breakfast and right before Mommy was to take off, I let fly a technicolor yawn that would have made Linda Blair jealous (I have yet to see the Exorcist, but I am told that analogy works). Unfortunately, Mom had time to change and get off to the hospital - which I guess is good, because she helps people. I'm just selfish sometimes.

Some of the other highlights...

--Daddy and I broke the record for most diapers used in one changing - FOUR!! It takes a lot of persistence to make that happen.

--Daddy and I watched this movie called the Empire Strikes Back, and it was totally awesome. In the end, Daddy told me all about the father/child dynamic of the movie, and we compared it to our relationship. He assured me he would never turn to the Dark Side.

--We went out and ran some errands. All I am going to say about that is there are some seriously weird people that hang out at Paul's Discount during the day.

--I went with Daddy to get his hair cut. If you ever want an ego boost, be a baby in a room full of young beauticians (sorry - cosmetologists). No matter how many people tell you that you are the cutest little girl in the world, it NEVER gets old.

Tomorrow, we have a lunch date with the people from Daddy's office. It's at something called an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet. I hope they have formula.

Big Week Ahead

So Mom went back to work today. When I heard she was going, I was pretty bummed, because Mommy and I have a LOT of fun together. I figured now it was just going to be me and the cat hanging out all day, trying to figure out how to heat up a bottle. Then, I got some great news...

Daddy's staying home.

He's going to hang out with me all week. Apparently, he can do a lot of his work from home, which is awesome because I get to help. Most of my help involves sitting in my chair or hanging out in the Baby Bjorn, but I like to feel that I do my part. I'm more "motivational" then "actual help".

But anyway, this is going to be awesome. Like today, I showed him all my new tricks - like how much more I can fill a diaper than before. Seriously, man, I filled that thing WAY up. I think he was impressed. Then I showed him a little thing I like to call "The Fountain".

Off the changing table, I showed him how I can hold my head up and turn it side to side during Tummy Time. I was all like lookin' to the right, then "BAM" I'm looking left. Then look up at Daddy then "BAM" back to the right.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this week goes. I will keep you up to date. Rumor has it there may be some field trips on the horizon.

Ice, Ice Baby

Ok, you see these...

Those are the dancing shoes that I am NOT wearing tonight because of this stupid ice storm. Apparently, a massive icy blizzard is going on around town and the party I was supposed to go to tonight has been cancelled.

One word... BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I had a new dress, new tights, new SHOES - all for nothing. I was going to look cute, maybe get held by some cute guys, dance with my daddy. Now, nothing. I'm going to spend the night waiting for the power to go off again.

Then again, it could be worse. At least my vibrating chair runs on batteries.

Congratulations NOT in order

OK, so I've been having a little problem at home with Mom and Dad. They are getting WAY to excited about eating. Every time I grab a snack, they are so happy for me that they start patting me on the back like I just crossed home plate after a home run. Seriously, what is the big deal? It's not like I need the encouragement. I get hungry - I'm gonna eat.

And on top of that, sometimes they jostle me around so much that I let a burp slip out. Its SOOO disgusting!! I mean, I'm a little girl - soon to be a little lady. And I am sorry, but little ladies don't burp (well, in public anyway).

My parents, however, think that it is something I need to do all the time.

Anyway, I digress...

So I had to go in to the hospital today for an ultrasound on my hip. Man I am getting old. Apparently they are checking for any lasting damage from back when I was born since I was upside down. It's all good, though - I got hips as strong as Shakira. That's good, because Mom said we are going to a party this Saturday, and I got a cute party dress and some dancin' shoes ready to go!!

Workin' For a Livin'

OK, so Mom had to go out and get a haircut today, so I got to do a "Job Shadow" at Daddy's office. Pretty cool.

Seriously, though, it doesn't seem that hard to me.

Road Trip

Hello all!! Sorry for the delay in updates, but I have been a busy girl.

Last weekend, I took my first road trip. Mom, Dad and I all piled in the car and took off for Daddy's home town. It's not exactly Metropolis, but I tell you what, it was the most exciting vacation I have ever been on. We stayed at Grandma Kate and Grandpa Rico's house, which is funny, because I figured with the amount of time they had spent at my house that they lived just down the street - not three hours away!! They were good hosts. Grandma Kate made sure I didn't get a flat spot on the back of my head from laying down by holding me the entire weekend.

I met some cool new people - including Great Grandpa Don and Great Great Grandma Retta. It did make me wonder, however, what I have to do to earn a title like that. Great Claire has a nice ring to it. Maybe someday.

But the main event of the weekend was the shower. With the opinion I have of baths, I was very leary of this. But it turns out it was just a big party where I got a boatload of presents. Not bad - I can totally see why most people have a shower every day.

My new friend Marsha let us use her house, which was good because we needed the room.

Take a look at the spoils...

As you can see, it was a great time with some great people. I got to know Great Aunt Audrey and Great Aunt Julie, which was really fun. I felt bad because they kept arguing over which one of them was my favorite - I like them BOTH!! The only thing they could agree on was that I was supposed to like them both more than somebody called Great Aunt Sandy.

Check-up - The Sequel

OK, so yesterday I had my one-month check-up (I know, where does the time go? I better start saving for college.) All went well... 10 lbs. 13 oz. (90th-pecentile) and 21 3/4 (75th-percentile) inches tall. If I keep growing at this rate, I'll be stepping on buildings in Tokyo before you know it.

After that we went to a place called Daycare, where Daddy had to go give the guy in charge a check (I hope it isn't mob related). Anyway, we looked around the place and it was pretty cool. There were little kids everywhere and a really nice room with cribs, some of them vibrating chairs, swings and toys. I just may tell Mom and Dad that if they ever have somewhere to go during the day, they could just drop me off here. It was the kind of place I could spend eight hours a day in.

GO HORSE!!!

So I think I am coming down with a bit of a fever...

SUPER BOWL FEVER!!!

My Colts are going to the Super Bowl!!! I have been waiting for this my whole life. I mean, I remember when I was little, laying in my Grandma Sara's arms watching Adam Vinatieri's five field goals beat the Ravens. Another time, I sat with Mom and Auntie Megan watching Peyton Manning drive the Colts down for a last-minute victory over the Patriots. Man, you just knew they were going to score... I can't ever remember Peyton not coming through in the clutch. And that other guy Tom Brady? I have never seen him even win a game in my life.

While Mom and I are psyched for the game, Daddy is a little more tepid. He must not be much of a football fan - although he is cheering for the Colts. He says he likes them because Dallas Clark and Bob Sanders used to wear Black and Gold. Can you imagine picking a football team based on colors? He does talk about some old time team called the Vikings, however. I guess they played way back in the day... when it was called the "regular season".
