School Daze

Looks like this kid is headed to school.

Well, kinda school. Mommy found this "pre" pre-school/playgroup kinda thing going on and sent Daddy and I to investigate this morning and see if we liked it.

I'll be starting next week. Every Thursday morning, baby.

It's the awesomest. Basically, this lady Joanie invites six kids over to her place and we get to play and sing and learn stuff and eat snacks and paint and all kinds of stuff. It was great, I didn't want to leave this morning. All the kids are my age and they are fun to play with. One little girl is even named Claire, so it will be easy for me to remember that one.

When we were there, I wanted to make a good impression so my application could be accepted. So while the kids were playing flashcards, I made sure I shouted out the right answers. "Green!" "Cow!" "Star!" "Oval!" "Piggie!". Yeah, I got 'em all right, even though I was the youngest there. Joanie said I was very bright.

Now that I am enrolled, I think I need to get a backpack.

Dr. Feelgood

Back to the doctor today, but this time it was a check-up. I posted some pretty even numbers...

Weight - 28.16 lbs (68%)
Height - 34.65 inches (69%)
Head - 19.49 inches (91%)

Daddy says my head is so big because I am so smart. Who am I to argue, right?

Had to get one shot, but I took it like a champ. Then, when I thought it was all over, I had to go get some blood drawn. In case you are new to medicine, that is when they give you a tiny little shot on your finger and take some of your blood. It didn't really hurt that much... it was actually kinda fascinating. I sat with Daddy when they did it, and I couldn't take my eyes off it. I even told Daddy that it was red. Which it was, and that is normal.

All in all, I'm more proportionate than I ever have been, and I ended up getting a bunch of stickers out of the deal, so it isn't too bad.

You Gotta Fight - For Your Right - To Potty

Had a bit of a weird moment today.

Daddy had me sitting on the potty, like we usually do, reading the New Yorker and all (there is a bunny on the front). Anyway, I realize that I gotta pee something fierce. I try holding it in for a while, but eventually it comes out.

Now, I expect Daddy to freak out, since he never seems to like it when I pee anywhere but my diaper. Not on the changing table, not on the bathroom rug - nowhere.

But he notices it and freaks out... but in a good way. He was all sorts of excited and told me I was a very good girl, all that stuff. I don't get it, but I'll take it.

If he gets this excited about me peeing on the potty... I wonder what he would do if I dropped a twosie. Maybe I'll try it.

Hittin' the Gym

I went to a new place today. Apparently, over at Mercer park they open up the gym for kids every morning. Sounds cool, right? So Daddy and I trotted over there to check it out.

We met up with my friend Rosie and it was a BLAST. I mean, there were kids everywhere. The place was hopping. They had all kinds of stuff to play with - balls and slides and mats to roll on and elephants to ride and all kinds of other stuff.

They had these giant basketball hoops, but Daddy couldn't lift me up high enough to use them, so I will have to just keep shooting hoops at home until I get a little bigger, or Daddy gets a little taller.

All that activity took it's toll, so Rosie and I had to take a juice break for a while. After playing some more, we all hopped in our cars and I took Rosie to the Pet Store. She had never been there, but I showed her all around. We saw the puppies and kitties and bunnies and guinea pigs and ferrets and snakes and birdies and mice and fishies. It was quite an experience.

Big Day

Really big day here. Not that much I can say about it.

But the new guy will bring a lotta change.

Doctor, Doctor

So, I've been to the doctor this week.

Now, I know what you are thinking. Don't worry. I'm fine. Seriously.

BUT, I have come up with an interesting theory. It is much better to go to the doctor when you are sick than when you are fine.

This trip was a breeze. We went there, they gave me a quick look over, then sent me on my way with THREE stickers and some tasty pink stuff called "medicine" that I get to eat three times a day.

Whenever I go when I am feeling fine, they give me shots. And no medicine.

So the lesson here is only go to doctors when you are sick.

Birthday Bash

It's official... I'm two.

You know, I think the best thing about turning two is that you get presents. I got some at Christmas, and now I got some for my birthday, so I think I have done enough research to say that presents are awesome. I can't wait to get more. Apparently I get them every two weeks or so.

Now, Daddy said that I shouldn't get used to this because after my birthday I wouldn't get any presents for a LONG time.

But then today, there was one in the mail from my Auntie Chris.

Shows what he knows.

I Set the Trends, Baby

So, for those of you like Daddy who tend to shun Sesame Street for the News, you may have seen the story about Sasha Obama bringing an UglyDoll to school with her.

CLICK HERE TO SEE THE ARTICLE

Yup, and UglyDoll. Toodee and Moxy are SOOOO proud of their cousin Babo's Bird!!!

But I tell you what, I've been sleeping with a pair of UglyDolls for almost two years and nobody has called to interview me on the subject. I have lots to say about Toodee and Moxy!!!

You Can Call Me Duece

So guess who turns the Big 2 this weekend? Yup, it's me. Kinda hard to believe, isn't it?

Just think, as of Sunday, I will no longer be a baby, and will begin my career as a little girl. It's kind of intimidating, really. Daddy says there are lots of responsibilities in being a little girl.

Like no more crying or fussing. And no more misbehaving. And no tantrums. And no more poopy diapers.

Oh well, I guess it will be nice when I turn two, become a little girl and all that baby stuff is magically behind me, right?

Back to Class

One thing I forgot about yesterday... if I am back to the grind, that means we are going back to MUSIC CLASS!!!

I can't wait. I have been asking Daddy every day about class for the last few weeks, and he never takes me because we are on break. I was worried we had become the town from Footloose.

But today we make our triumphant return. I have even been singing all the songs from class over the last few days to get ready for it.

This girl is ready to dance her diaper off.

Back to the Grind

Well, it's all over.

I shoulda seen in coming, hindsight being what it is, but I guess the baby in me thought it would go on forever. I stopped getting offered cookies, the presents stopped coming, Mommy started going back to work. Then yesterday I woke up from my nap and the Christmas Tree was gone.

I knew it was official when I woke up this morning and I heard the kids playing outside waiting for the school bus. I've always like watching the kids out my window when I wake up, but this time I was a little bittersweet, cuz I knew that it meant that Christmas was over.

So now it is back to the grind. Wake up, eat breakfast, watch Sesame Street, go bye-bye, come back for lunch, read books, take a nap, play, eat dinner, play, then milk-books-crib and it's another day in the books.

Repeat as necessary.
